Remove Yourself From Spokeo.com

What you'll need to remove yourself from Spokeo:

  • A browser with multiple tabs
  • Junk email address

Step 1: Navigate to Spokeo.com.  Click on the "Contact" link at the bottom of the page.

Step 2:  The "Help/FAQ" link in the right panel.

Step 3: Click on the Data & Privacy tab.

Step 4:  Click on the "How do I opt out of Spokeo/remove my listing?"

Step 5:  The system opens the instructions page for removing your information.  Leave this window open.

Step 6:  In a new tab or window, navigate to Spokeo.com.  Search for your name.

REMEMBER:  You will need to repeat this for every name you've had and place you've lived.

Step 7:  Find your name in the list and click on it.  If you are listed more than once, you will need to do each one separately.

Step 8:  They website will show you the details of the listing.  Highlight the full link and copy it. (Ctrl+C)

Step 9:  Go back to the Remove Listing page.
a) Paste the link you just copied (Ctrl+V) into the first text box.
b) Enter in a junk email address
c) Enter the security code
d) Click the Remove This Listing button.

Step 10:  Go to your email.  You will receive an email from Spokeo for each listing that you removed.

Step 11:  Click the link in the email to finalize removing your listing.

Be sure to repeat these steps for you and your family members.

Remember that all family members may not be familiar with a computer and they are at the greatest risk for being conned by people using their information to elicit money or worse.   Spokeo does put a limit of 7 removals per computer, however, so if you need to remove more, contact Customer Service and tell them that you're on a public computer to have them release the IP so you can remove more.
